Hey Little bumblebees,
So the past few weeks technology is not my friend at the moment. All the notes I take during events I write on my Notes App, my Iphone decided to delete all my contacts and restore an OLD backup!! Uuuuugh! So apologies! I even had exclusive insight and interviews from A-list celebrities that attended The Scottish Fashion Awards!
As mentioned in the Jakia’s Wedding I attended The Scottish Fashion Awards in London! Yes London! This is The Scottish Fashion awards 9th annual event and 2nd year held in London. The reason they hold The Awards in London is to create maximum publicity around the Ceremony. Which personally I think its an amazing marketing strategy! As London generally has more media and press links.
I was invited along to the red carpet as a member of the press. First time attending such a recognised award ceremony in London! The event was held at 8 Northumberland Avenue on the 1st of Sepetmber 2014. According to London Town “best multi-purpose venues in the city”. Such a beautiful building in the heart of London Trafalgar’s square.
Event entrance
There was only a few bloggers at this exclusive event. I hope I represented Scotland well! As I was the only Scottish Blogger there 😀 😀 How Cool! There was other London based video bloggers which told me they’ve visited Edinburgh before 🙂 Check out Mariette Immaculat interview with David Gandy.
So exciting that you can hear the bagpipes all the way from the other side of the roundabout in Trafalgar’s square! They had red carpet outside for the guests and also inside where the media ‘tent’ was.
Walking in you were signed in by the girls at the door and further into the hallway checked in again. To my delightful surprise Eshiva from Metropolitan Fashion show and one of my great friends was an events assistant! Eshiva is a newbee blogger check out her work 🙂 http://byeshiva.com/2014/09/03/scotfashinvasion-scottish-fashion-awards-2014/
Flower of Scotland
I was standing near the entrance talking my picture for all you lovely Blogbees 🙂 Its crazy to think a year ago I would not know anyone in the Scottish Fashion industry but I was pretty impressed that I actually recognised a few faces 😀
Rachel Mcmillan one of the designers from Metropolitan Fashion Show was nominated as young designer of the year, Ruth Walker a judge from MFS and also the founder of CRAVE (CRAVE Presents Racy), also one of my favourite Glasgow bloggers Amanda Davies – Honey Pop the product development manager from Abandoned ship and the lovely Atta Yaqub a male model that I recognised as a facebook buddy.
A-Listers
I was arms length away (well for me maybe two) from Vivian Westwood!
I got to see and briefly speak to my favourite Made In chelsea star – Lucy Watson! As my niece says she has my attitude and the eye rolling thing…!opsy 😀 Lucy really worked that red carpet! Loved her outfit! Really suits her petite frame as well as elongated her legs!
Other celebrities such as Pixie lott, Proudlock from MIC, James Sutton- John paul from Hollyoaks, Brix Smith and Amy Macdonald were attending the award ceremony.
I met David Gandy!!….NOM! This man knows how to dress and a small smile totally made my knees weak. David wore a Scottish Tartan well tailor suit from his new collection from M&S.

London the City of Fashion: The Logistics – what they don’t tell you…
As a teenager I loved visiting London, shopping, fashion and always events to attend. Like shows such as Made In Chelsea, Project Runway and Britain’s Next Top Model you would assume London is as fashion-focused as the T.V. shows you watch…lets talk about the things you don’t hear about on T.V.
I’ve had my driving licence for 6 years now and my own car for over a year. So going from A-B has always been easy for me. Edinburgh Lothian Buses have a great reputation for public travel. In London the underground subway is the best way to travel A-B as there is a number of stops and travel destination routes. I only learnt how the London Underground works last summer (2013) when me and my sister Hassy went to London for the Rihanna Diamonds tour in Twickenham (For people like myself unfimilar to London areas – isn’t in London btw).
The idea of wearing a nice dress and let it get crushed or stood on in the London Subway wasn’t the ideal way to go to a red carpet event so I managed to get a lift by car. Traveling from Luton to London wasn’t time consuming but the traffic is London is Craaazy! Especially city centre! Parking at the Trafalgar’s car park costs £40 for 4 hours!! And a further £12 for congestion charge in certain areas in London (which you pay online).
Outfit check
As I wasn’t attending the actual ceremony I didn’t know what to wear, so my sister suggested wearing her black maxi dress from her birthday last year. I love this dress!! I love how creative me and my sister are when we try and make an outfit unique. My sister is the biggest Rihanna fan…literally. 😐 So back in 2013 when the Rihanna for River island came out Hassy wanted the thigh-high split black dress as a birthday number. Typical celebrity collection it was out of stock before it even got to the shelves.
So we decided to be creative and customise a dress. Inspired by the 2012 sexy Angelina Jolie introduced the split leg which at the time didnt have a replica by any high street brands.
We found this long sleeved maxi dress on Boohoo, we bought lace material (yes of course lace) from Edinburgh Materials in Leith and asked our tailor to customise the back and add a leg slit.
The dress was stunning on! Find the whole look on my Instagram 🙂 The material of the dress is very much figure loving so DO NOT have a food baby that day.
Makeup check
As I was wearing a long dress I didn’t want to be Over The Top and have my typical Kardashian waves so I decided to-do a Mrs West sleek high pony. As I was wearing black I knew I can either do heavy eyes or bright lips. I choose my favourite Red lipstick Russian Red from MAC, as my favourite Beauty Blogger Carli Bybel explains ‘ to-do a sleek pony make sure you contour and bronze as much as possible’. When I wear red lip stick I tend to use a darker bronzer than usual.
Accessories
I love doing the whole east meets west look so I got these diamantes from the London Mela the day before. Which I wore as a bindi 🙂 I got this hand chain from the Eid bazzar by Al Jawharah, Glasgow, Which totally completed my whole look 🙂 #Happybunny I love Community support thanks for the lovely instagram shoutout 🙂
I wore my open toe strappy black heals from Asos, and also wore my new anklet chains from Asos! (I don’t mind my feet but putting them in blog is a tad weird)
I hope you enjoyed my write up 🙂 I do apologise it took so long for this blog to be up and running! I’ve already had a number of people asking me where the post is…so apologies Blogbees 😀 😀 so till next time!
Dream to Inspire ❤ ❤
