The Look Street Style Competition
I was one of the lucky 6 winners out of the whole nation to win The Look Show Street Stylist- 2012 Competition.
“We’re so excited to see our competition winners’ catwalk looks after they showed us their styling skills on Look What I’m Wearing and during our scouting days around the country. They’ll even bag a brand new Samsung Galaxy S Advance AND a £250 New Look shopping spree – lucky things.“
I was selected to be in the Edinburgh edition of Look What I am Wearing in the August 2012. A few weeks later I was called and told I had won the Street Style competition along with 5 others!
Me and my plus one my cousin Jessie Nilufar Islam a Textiles Fashion Student from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh; was given the opportunity to fly down to London for the Look Magazine 2012 show.
During the day the winners went to Look Magazine HQ at the Blue Fin Building, London. We got the opportunity to meet the individuals behind the magazine and the fashion show organisers. We had a group photo and interview for the magazine. The main task was to style a model that will be representing your style for the Look Magazine Fashion show 2012.
We stayed at The Cumberland Hotel in Marble Arch and dined out at Fire & Stone in Covent Garden. We were treated to limited-edition Daisy Knights goodie bags and sipped Firefly Tonics at the Show too!
The show was one the hottest fashion event not to be missed. There was a huge list of A-listers that we got the opportunity to meet. There was Kelly Brook walking the catwalk, Alesha Dixon Performing (my favourite Teenage girl group ‘Misteeq’) and Whitney Port (The hills) sitting front row.
During the event The Look Show Street Style winners were announced and the model that was styled was presented in the catwalk. It was such an amazing feeling to have my name on the big screen alongside my model.
As an event Coordinator
Being part of this event and show was a big confidence boost. This experience made me see what type of events I would like to organise in the future. My interest in the Fashion Industry and my passion in Event Management made me realise this exactly the type of events I would like to pursue my career in.
Sultana Malik, 22, events manager, Edinburgh. “As an events management student, I hope to one day organise such a wonderful show and make people feel the way you guys have. Thank you guys so much!”
