DAY 3: Looking the part

23/04/15

My mother-in-law asked my mum if she could get an image of me looking like a bride to show the family. This was literally my first dressing like an actual bride. Normal Bengali girls have at least one ‘martial image’ looking the part and then there’s me! Selfie, pout, with a hand on my hip kind of pose.
I wore this gown from Memsaab UK online, as a sign of respect I had to cover my hair, as according to big sister, it was to give me that “Bangladeshi bride look”. The scarf kept slipping so I backcombed and pinned it to my hair. Later my scarf was pinned around my figure giving me this Devdas scarf look, which I LOVED! I was told not to smile or laugh or strut a pose. Just look as plain Jane as possible.
However as Asian and traditional as I thought I looked, my mother-in-law still wanted an even more tradition look in a saree. But, after a lot of consideration I decided to say no.
