Scottish Event Award 2012

Hey my beautiful readers! It’s been a while since my last blog! My apologies, I have been extremely busy with a new project- Fashion Clinique plus my first university assignment is due soon! No rest for the wicked as they say 😦

imgI am a events assistant for the company Blushbooth! This zero hours contact is a great opportunity for me to get some hands on paid events jobs. I just finished my induction with the company which consisted of a brief history of Blushbooth, a run through of how the booth works and how to set up equipment and load down equipment. Excited to start my first shift!!

As part of an assessment for 2nd year students at Queen Margaret University, we put on an event! Olymphusion got the lucky opportunity to be nominated in the ‘Student Category’ for the Scottish Event Award 2012! Our Events lecturer Joe Goldblatt was also nominated in the best academic category.

The 5th Annual Scottish Event Awards was hosted on Thursday 6th September at The Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow. According to The Scottish Event Awards website ” The Scottish Event Awards in association with Event Scotland, is the only annual award scheme provides the Scottish event industry a fantastic platform to demonstrate their talent and skills and stand out above the competition. “

On arrival bagpipers preforming outside, during reception a glass of bubbles and canapes were available. Olymphusion representatives got the opportunity to network by talking to other professionals within the tourism, catering and events industry. My HNC Events tutors from Stevenson College, Edinburgh and previous class colleagues were also nominated in the Student Category! It was great to see them!

The event was hosted by one of the UK’S most existing talents Des Clarke. The 3 course dinner meal was lovely and the catering staff were very approachable.

BlushBooth were located at the reception area. The booth was popular amongst attendees. The Blushbooth was self service and had an assistant available for enquiries, they provided props for us to use in our photos. This was an exciting aspect for the event! Great idea and amenity for attendees!
