Hey my lovelies! First university submission complete! And you would not believe a week before my hand-In where I was…. Yes! Went to see my idol the Queen herself! Beyonce Mrs Carter Show!!! At the 02 Arena in London, on the 6th March 2014!
Beyonce had 12 performance shows in the United Kingdom which include, 2 shows in Glasgow and 6 show dates in London! Me and my best friend flew down to London for a few nights with a full packed tourist schedule!
I have previously attended a number of concert venues for example; Usher OMG Tour 2011 was held at the SECC Glasgow.
The 02 Arena in London has the capacity of 20,000 spectators, it is the second largest arena in the United Kingdom and one of the largest in Europe. According to The 02 website you can fit 18,000 double-decker buses!
Before the concert you had the opportunity to choose to dine in any of the 22 restaurants! My favorite part of The 02 was this retro section! So quirky and represents music and it’s history! At first I thought it was wall paper!
The doors for the Queen Bey opened at 6:30 prompt. I was slightly shocked judging by my photos half the hall was still empty 30 minutes before the show started! But to my surprise 5 minutes before the Mrs Carter Show started the whole hall was full! Not only is she the greatest singer of our time, she is a performer and a idol in woman empowerment.
After opening with the empowerment anthem Run The World (Girls), she started with her most recent album song Flawless, which quotes author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s talk We Should All Be Feminists. This entertainment evening did not just concentrate on Beyonce as a musician but also her production team of dancers, backing singers and the team behind the graphics. The short 60 second video presentations was thoroughly themed around the 50s ‘The Mrs Carter Show’ marketing campaign.
To our delightful surprise Beyonce’s husband JayZ the worlds best selling artist with 17 Grammy Awards under his belt, surprised the audience as a feature artist on Beyonce’s recent track ‘Drunk in love’. The atmosphere in The 02 was mind blowing!
As the show drew to a close, she recalled that she had first played London with Destiny’s Child in 1997 “I’m so honored to be here again,Thank you guys for having me. Thank you for saving up money to come to the show, for waiting in line and making such a beautiful sound.”
One of the best concerts I’ve ever attended and a dream come true! I have been a Destiny’s Child fan since I was young and instantly fell in love with Beyonce’s voice in the album ‘The Writing’s on the Wall’.
Hope you enjoyed my post!
Dream to inspire ❤ ❤
