Cooking with #SuperBhabi – is Dolmio Halal?

So as highly requested by my snap chatters to start doing Super bhabi videos on YouTube! So here’s my first!

Today I’m making Bolognese sauce from scratch! Which I use for lasagne! I had so many comments about using the Dolmio white sauce suggesting it’s not Halal…watch the video and see our thoughts.


Tomato sauce:

2 onions

3 carrots

4 garlic cloves

1/2 tbsp salt

1 tsp sugar

1 tbsp tomato puree

2 bay leaf

1 tsp oregano

2 tins of chopped tomato

1/2 tin of plum tomato

600ml/800ml water


Box of mushrooms

2 green peppers

1 red pepper

Cooking the mince:

1kg mince

2 onions

2 tbsp garlic ginger paste


1 tsp chillies

1/2 tsp haldi/Turmeric

1/2 tsp ground coriander

1/4 tsp jeera/cumin seeds


Box of lasagne sheets

Dolmio white sauce

250g of cheese

Cooking the mince method:

Clean mince by rinsing under water and drain a few times

Cook mince with boiling water

1 tsp oil

1/2 tsp oil

Cook until water is bubbling (make sure you mix every 10 minutes)

1)         Drain the boiled mince

2)         ½ cup oil (in a clean pan)

3)         2 onions

4)         1 tbsp salt

5)         2 tbsp garlic ginger paste (add 50ml of water is needed)

6)         1 tsp chillies, 1/2 tsp haldi/Turmeric, 1/2 tsp ground coriander & 1/4 tsp jeera/cumin seeds (do not mix for about ¾ minutes)

7)         Put in boiled mince (cook for about 8/10 minutes)

Bolognese’s method:

1)         1 cup oil, 4 garlic cloves until slightly brown, onions for ¾ minutes and then carrots (10 minutes)

2)         1 tsp sugar, 1/2 tbsp salt and 2 bay leaf (3/4 minutes)

3)         2 tins of chopped tomato, 1/2 tin of plum tomato, 1 tbsp tomato puree, 1 tsp oregano and 500/600ml water (30 minutes)

4)         Take bay leaf out and carefully blend ( Once blended check if it needs more water)

5)         Add Box of mushrooms, 2 green peppers and 1 red pepper

6)         Add cooked spiced mince (15 minutes until mushrooms are soft)

Lasagne method:

(Soak lasagne sheets in warm water)

1)         Lasagne tomato sauce

2)         Lasagne sheets

3)         White sauce

4)         2nd layer Lasagne tomato sauce

5)         2nd layer Lasagne sheets

6)         2nd layer White sauce

7)         250g of cheese on top (Bake for about 20 minutes, until dish is brown)

Sunflower Oil

Modified Maize Starch

Butter Fat (from Milk)

Cheese (from Milk) (1.9%)

Fat Powder (Palm Fat, Lactose, Milk Protein)


Natural Flavourings (contains Celery, Milk)



Acid (Lactic Acid)

Stabilizer (Xanthan Gum)

Spices (contains Mustard)

Milk Proteins

Antioxidant (Rosemary Extract)
