Hey beautiful readers! First time attending a Scottish Asian event in Glasgow. Such an entertainment filled day!
This blog is a follow up post from my previous post (Awaz 2014 Event).
On arrival I signed up to the Awaz newsletter and got given a goody bag with brochures and money off vouchers.
I started talking to one of the events assistants Kiran Kaur. She was well spoken and approachable. I asked her about the event and planning. Kiran even personally showed me around the venue and how the stalls are set up. Awaz wedding and lifestyle exhibition has been an ongoing event since 2008! And currently the only Asian wedding fair in Scotland. It was interesting to learn that most company’s and stalls approach Awaz to be part of this annual event.
Each stall was presented very professional with a number of assistants available for enquiries.
My best friend Jordan Young was a live model for the Rahims productions stand. She was also put into two of the six catwalk scenes.
Jordan looked like a beautiful eastern goddess. Her makeup was done by the talented Saleema Ali the official makeup artists for Rashims productions. I have worked with Saleema in two of my previous events; one from her first ever event – Charity’s week Ladies Night 2011 and more recent Charity Week: ladies night 2013.
Saleema Ali always works with such pride and professionalism. She is very well organised by ensuring she has enough time to set up with models makes up and hair. She also markets herself very well, by going the extra mile to ensure she makes contacts and everyone sees the face of this talented makeup artist.
The display where Jordan Young was modelling on was by J’Adore Functions (Charity week Edinburgh 2013), Jewellery from Prestige Jewellery and wore a design from SKM Couture.
The event was hosted by VIP Entertainment. The UK’s no1 DJ and roadshow entertainment company has been around for 25 years now! VIP Entertainment introduced the event and ensured the Awaz wedding and lifestyle exhibition sponsor company Frocks and Rocks Collection were mentioned. The Fashion show ran on time and in between the scenes there was entertainment such as singers, dolki players and dance performers.
Constructional criticism
As an event coordinator I believe an evaluation after each event is as important as the research of putting on the event. This means next time we produce an event we can do bigger and better for our customers. There was a separate room for customers to enjoy some beautiful Indian cuisine provided by Millan catering company. There was no signage to suggest there was a spare room for food. There was a lot of paperwork such as leaflets on the seating area for the Fashion show. After the 3rd catwalk a lot of the paper work was on the ground, making the seating area look messy.
Overall fantastic exhibition with entertainment! Well organised, marketed well and a great turn out of attendees.
